New Washoe City
Join Kathy Tuesday evenings for speedwork at your own pace on Mount Rose starting at the “Tahoe Meadows Tahoe Rim Trail Trailhead” off the Mt Rose Hwy (39.30735893397116, -119.90799410967935). Enjoy the higher altitude and cooler weather. If you want to run faster, you have to practice running faster! Speed workouts train you how to output more effort, maintain a higher cadence, and mentally cope with some physical discomfort while running. If you practice this skill once or twice per week consistently, you won’t just become faster -you will run faster with less effort. Whether you are looking to run faster or meet some new running buddies, speedwork weekly will help.
In order to make these runs fun and safe for everyone, we need all participants to follow current state and county guidelines. In particular, these runs are limited to current DPMR members (to ensure a “stable cohort”), face coverings are required before and after the run at the trailhead/parking areas, and 6-feet of physical separation will be necessary during the run. Also, please note that this is a DPMR sponsored group run subject to the DPMR Code of Conduct, so please leave furry friends at home. If guidelines change, we may be able to invite non-members.
What to bring (other than a face covering)? Running shoes and a desire to have fun! Bring a watch and a water bottle. Be laced up and ready to go as the speed work starts at 6:00 PM sharp! And if you have the time, hang out afterwards to socialize over beverages at an acceptable social distance of 6 feet or more (beverages compliments of DPMR).
These runs are co-hosted by Reno Running Company. Shoe demos courtesy of Salomon on June 8th and HOKA on June 29th. Check them out!
