We are super excited to offer “no-host unofficial,” dog-friendly, Sunday fun runs for a handful of weekends this spring! These runs are designed for all levels and all paces. We encourage everyone to join! For this first session, we will be meeting at the “Martis Creek Wildlife Area” off 267 in Truckee (park on the south side of 267 just east of Martis Dam Road @ 39.3033, -120.1315). We will meet at the designated time and location then head out to the trails. As we get going, feel free to each take your own pace and own distance. Eliza Wendel will be at the trail head 10-15 minutes prior to the start and will hold down the slower to moderate pace for all of the newer and more casual runners. The primary focus for these runs is to meet your fellow DPMR members (and dogs), enjoy the trails, and have fun! Each person is encouraged to either stick to the planned route or feel free to add on some distance and/or pump up the speed as it suits them.
In order to make these runs fun and safe for everyone, we need all participants to follow current state and county guidelines. In particular, these runs are limited to current DPMR members (to ensure a “stable cohort”), face coverings are required before and after the run at the trailhead/parking areas, and 6-feet of physical separation will be necessary during the run. If guidelines change, we may be able to invite non-members.
