May 30th | 9:00 AM Donner Party Mountain Runners + Truckee Donner Land Trust. Sign the waiver here. And then sign up to volunteer here.
We all love that feeling of perfect, flowing singletrack, but the reality is that trails aren’t “set and forget.” In our rugged Sierra Nevada climate, the trails we run every day are living things that face constant battles. Between heavy winter snowpack runoff and high-volume summer traffic, our favorite routes can quickly turn into washed-out gullies or braided, dusty messes.
Truckee is world-class because our community shows up. We’ve all enjoyed the hard work of the volunteers who came before us—now it’s our turn to pay it forward.
Why Your Help Is Vital:
- Prevent Erosion: Proper drainage keeps our dirt on the hills and sediment out of the Truckee River.
- Protect the Backyard: Keeping trails in top shape prevents “social trails” from damaging sensitive native habitats.
- Earn Your Trail Karma: There’s a unique pride in running a section of dirt you helped repair. You’ll never look at a drainage dip the same way again!
- Build Community: It’s the best way to meet fellow runners and the stewards at the Truckee Donner Land Trust.
The Details:
- When: May 30th at 9:00 AM.
- Where: Johnson Canyon Trailhead
- Experience: None required! We’ll provide the tools and the training. Just bring water, sturdy shoes, and a pair of work gloves.
Come give back to the community and ensure our trails stay beautiful for seasons to come.
