This year, the Pub Run starts at Alibi Incline, and will end at Alibi Truckee. The date of the run is October 22, and we’ll start at 8 AM with a toast to those intrepid pioneers of our namesake, the Donner Party. In an effort to showcase some of the trails that have been built since we ran a similar course in 2017 (Big Chief), the route is about 54k.
For the run, there are options to start at Alibi Incline and end at Brockway (267) OR to start at Brockway and run to the finish are possible. NO SHUTTLES OF ANY KIND ARE PROVIDED BY DPMR – RUNNERS WILL HAVE TO ORGANIZE THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT. There will most likely be a whiskey-only aid station at Brockway Summit (267 intersection). We are hoping to make water drops on course at the 267 intersection and on the 06 – but runners should prepare for a totally self-supported event with a water filter and any food needed (expect no aid on course).
There will be no on-course markings of any kind, so come prepared to navigate the route. Map of the route can be found here: https://caltopo.com/m/2N10C You can download the Caltopo app and use the map in real time on the course to find your way! It’s the best way to not get lost in the mountains. Use it.
We also planned this route to celebrate the release of our new beer collaboration with Alibi! According to Matt Garcia, head brewmaster at Alibi, “Winter Picnic” is a Red Ale with some mountain runner attitude! Notes of pine and tangerine from Azacca and Eldorado hops stride along perfectly with a toffee malt finish line. Our interpretation of a little post run treat. Cheers!”
The release party will begin at 4pm at Alibi Truckee on the same day as the pub run. Come out and join us whether you tackle the trails or decide to have a lazy Sunday.
Hope to see you on the trails AND at Alibi Truckee on Sunday, October 22nd! #unafraid
