Another running memoir! I can’t get enough of these inspiring stories!! This one if from Boston Marathon Champion and Olympian Des Linden, co-written with ESPN journalist Bonnie D. Ford.

The story follows her race at the 2018 Boston Marathon. She alternates chapters re-living that victorious race and looking-back through her childhood and running career leading up to the race. This is a story of dreaming big and going for it. This is a story of perseverance through the ups and downs of a running career that question why you are doing what you do. It touches on motivation, team and sponsor relationships, doping in the sport, personal health and so much more.
Eventually, when Des may have been in one of the lows of her career, on a day when infamous freezing rain and 20 mph headwind caused so many to DNF, Des pulled strength from the challenges that she had faced and decided to “keep showing up”. In the horrendous conditions, Des ran by feel (rather than pace) and pulled on her mental strength when no one, from coaches to health professionals would have predicted she would finish (even under good conditions).
