Introduction by DPMR board member Kathy Hess-Slocum:
“I met Marcy Dolan over 25 years ago when she owned one of the best sunglass stores in Tahoe City and instantly liked her enthusiastic energy. Marcy is an inspiration to those around her. She is a skilled athlete, a dedicated community member, and a true lover of the outdoors. Her passion for skiing, trail running, and volunteering has made a positive impact on the Tahoe community and beyond.”

Member Highlight by Kathy Hess-Slocum:
- Where are you from and where do you live now?
I have lived in Truckee for thirty years. Like many, I came out from NY on a ski vacation and never went home. I have three kids 23, 20 and 16- none of whom like to run- and am SO grateful to call Tahoe my home. The outdoors is always calling my name and I love to ski-all forms, ride, run, swim and hike.
- When did you begin running and/or long-distance running, if that applies? Why?
I started running to train for Alpine Ski Racing when I was 14. I always found myself in the woods and running seemed effortless. I have been healthy enough to continue running and two years ago I wanted to see if I could run longer distances and “participate” in some events. I love the energy of the events and the people are awesome and have realized that my PR’s will come in the form of volunteering for the DPMR booths as well as in medical tents.
- What led you to join DPMR?
I joined DPMR because I am inspired by what the members do both in terms of their athletic accomplishments and the values in which they live their lives. Most of them also provide good snacks! I have found the members to be very generous with their knowledge about running and their support know matter the subject.
- What has been your favorite DPMR experience so far?
One My favorite DPMR event is the Point Mariah Marathon. I loved the loop approach. I am hoping to run again this but trying to decide on the distance.
I also enjoy the film festivals- lots to be inspired by.
- Favorite local trail?
My favorite running trail head is Johnson Canyon. I love to climb and there are so many options. I also love to run at Palisades Tahoe- those mountains really speak to me. Hoping to travel some this summer to WA and AK to explore trails there.
Thanks for taking the time to read about me- hope to meet more of you at DPMR running events this year! Marcy
