The Racing Gnome always calls out to the hardy and this year proved to be no different as racers showed up on a brisk, chilly Super Bowl Sunday morning to run the event at Prosser Hill OHV in Truckee. With a decision to mix things up this year and add a spikes division, many racers were making race-day calls about “shoes or spikes”.
Peter Fain (Run on Dirt Coaching) set another stout course with a single loop for the 5K runners and an extra added loop for the 10K racers featuring a hill that gave everyone plenty to discuss post-race over hot chocolate.
A staggered start allowed some to take on both the 5K and the 10K distance- certainly earning them the DPMR mantle of UNAFRAID.
A special thanks to Alpenglow Sports for donating our club fleet of Atlas Run snowshoes – making it possible for us to introduce so many to snowshoe running each year!
