On Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 6:00 pm, Donner Party Mountain Runners will honor our friend Lucas Horan with a Full Moon Howl and Whiskey Toast on Tinkers Knob, preceding a party in the parking lot at the Old 40 Bar and Grill on Donner Summit. This run is a self-supported fat-ass-style adventure outing on the Pacific Crest Trail. There is no cost to attend, and there will be no aid stations. Please register here for free.
We will meet in the parking lot of the Old 40 Bar and Grill (Donner Ski Ranch) to begin the run at 6:00 pm. The suggested route is an out and back on the PCT to Tinkers Knob, approximately 16 miles total distance. There will be a full moon, but you’ll still want to bring a headlamp for the shady sections of the trail (Lucas would bring one, but probably wouldn’t turn it on). If you’d like to participate in the Whiskey Toast on Tinkers Knob, please bring a small vessel to carry your whiskey.
Runners can go shorter or longer – Lucas would run all the way to Olympic Valley and back…
Celebration to follow in the parking lot at Old 40 Bar and Grill- pizza, salads, and one beer ticket (more available for purchase). (reminder to register for the event so we can order food appropriately)
Overnight parking is ok if you want to sleep in your car afterward.
This is a free group run to celebrate and honor our friend Lucas Horan. If you feel like contributing to one of these two nonprofit organizations in Lucas’s memory, here are the links to make your tax-deductible contribution:
