DPMR Board Member Renee Elsdon Jacobs of Caltopo.com led two virtual workshops on backcountry navigation for beginners using the free online mapping tool, CalTopo. In this workshop, attendees learned the fundamental tools on CalTopo, including how to create routes. Renee discussed in-field navigation using the Caltopo app, Avenza app, or a Garmin device (such as a watch with mapping capabilities). Attendees got hands-on practice during the workshop and a chance to get their questions answered.
