Explore our local trails and summit new peaks with the 2020 Truckee Tahoe Peak Project. Challenge yourself to visit 10, 15, or 20 peaks from our curated list between June 1 and September 20, 2020.
This project is designed for Truckee Tahoe locals of all ages who can walk or run uphill at altitude. Most of the peaks are accessible by walk up trails, with a few requiring basic rock scrambling.
Your peer network will be a resource for sharing trail beta, celebrating successes, and providing accountability. We will track progress as a group toward our collective goal number of peaks to summit.
Select your own individual goal level as well:
- 10 Peaks for Bronze
- 15 Peaks for Silver
- 20 Peaks for Gold
Join us for optional monthly meetups in Truckee to make connections, plan adventures, and keep the stoke alive!
The Truckee Tahoe Peak Project was created by local Forest Charter School student Clara Castellar and is sponsored by Lift Truckee.

Clara has been an active member of DPMR since the beginning in 2014. She prefers hiking to running, but really loves supporting club members at aid stations and events.
“My favorite volunteering job was probably the 2019 Castle Peak 100k, where I helped for 14 hours at multiple different aid stations,” Clara recalls. “I also really enjoyed the Broken Arrow SkyRace because everyone there was just really awesome and the location is great up at High Camp.”
Preparing for the 2020 Truckee Tahoe Peak Project has really encouraged Clara to get out of her comfort zone with the lengths and consistency of her hiking. She is excited to share her summer adventures with others.
“I’m hoping that the project will motivate more people who don’t normally get up to peaks to explore more of our local trails,” says Clara. “I just want to bring this to the community because it has already really helped me and I want to share the experience.”
