Our mission at DPMR is to inform, inspire, and connect mountain runners in the region. We hope that you will agree that whether you are looking to hit the trails for a long day, get out for some speedwork, or just socialize with like-minded folks, we have the events to get you out and keep you inspired this year. We hope everyone can find some experiences with us to suit your desires. Don’t forget that most of our events are free to everyone, but your support is always appreciated. Join/renew today.
Here’s a peek at some of the opportunities we can all look forward to this year and we hope to see you out on the trails!
Group Training Runs
You’ve been asking, and we’ve listened – we’ve been working hard to get more regular, organized group runs on the calendar! We are excited about our lineup this season, but there’s always room for more. So if there isn’t a group run that suits your schedule but you’d like to do a group run on a regular basis, consider starting your own group run! Reach out to our group run coordinator, Renee Elsdon Jacobs at firstname.lastname@example.org
DPMR Newbies Run Club co-hosted by Tahoe Mountain Sports:
Steve Buelna will be kicking off the year again leading our Newbies Run Club Series beginning April 7. Look out for Tahoe Mountain Sports shoe demos (from various companies) and social time with free “beverages” and/or food at some of the runs. Newbies will take place Tuesday evenings at 6pm for 8 sessions at various locations. Come join the fun and kickstart your season!
Thursday Morning Speedwork:
Coach Peter Fain of Run on Dirt Coaching will lead Morning Speedwork starting in the Spring (date TBD, so keep your eyes on the calendar). Speedwork will be at various locations Thursdays at 6:30am. Get your day going with some pFain!
Tuesday Mid-Morning Trails:
Meggie Inouye will lead Mid-Morning Trails on Tuesdays at 9:30am starting May 5. These will be social 5-8 mile runs at various locations with the possibility of going longer if desired. Want to explore a new trail in the area? Leave a comment on the event page and we will make it happen together.
Sunday Morning Group Run:
Carol Lindsay will lead Sunday Morning Runs starting in June. Carol will be pondering these adventures and the meaning of life during her time on Camino de Santiago in May…so details and location TBD.
Season-Ending Pub Run:
Get amped for another classic Season-Ending Pub Run from none other than Chris Cloyd in October (TBD). They seem to get more epic every year.
Racing and Volunteering
Castle Peak 100k
Our signature race, the Castle Peak 100K, returns August 22. If you’re not already signed up, get on it! And if 100K isn’t your thing, we have many opportunities for you to become one of our amazing and enthusiastic volunteers!
Many people already had a blast at our first race of the year on February 9 at the Racing Gnome 5K/10K snowshoe race. It was a blustery day and the spectating was awesome to see racers make their way down the finishing hill at Auburn Ski Club.
Look for us out volunteering, (or better yet, join us!) at these races: The Canyons Endurance Runs, The Broken Arrow Skyrace, TRT Endurance Run, Castle Peak 100K, and Ultra Trail Lake Tahoe. Contact us if you would like to help on our Aid Station page.
Trail Work Days:
There will also be trail work days hosted by DPMR, with dates TBD. Check our Trail Stewardship page on our website and the DPMR calendar for updates as we get closer to summer.

The Memorial Day Picnic on May 25 is a celebration where runners and community members gather for trail runs, kids’ races, food, and celebration. This is a community event not to be missed. We will again be at the Prosser Campground group site, a beautiful location with great access to trails and plenty of space for the party. Mark your calendars now!
Member Appreciation Party:
The Member Appreciatiation Party will cap the season off in late October or early November (location and date TBD). Most of what we do all season is free and open to all… but THIS party is exclusive. If you aren’t a member you can join online today https://donnerpartymountainrunners.com/join-now/.
