As we approached the new Tahoe Mountain Hub co-working space, it looked pretty darn vacant. I wondered if this GPS education workshop might just be me, my husband Javier, and the four other board members I knew were planning to show up.
Then, as if on cue, well over a dozen people entered the room, right on Truckee time (about 5 minutes after the published event start.) After the necessary socializing and snacking, Board Member Chris Cloyd got things underway by shared how much he has enjoyed exploring our mountains with easily available GPS technology, including tools like CalTopo, Gaia, and modern GPS watches.
We ultimately broke into hands-on groups split along Garmin and Sunnto owners, to get very practical instructions on how to navigate with those amazing computers we wear on our wrists. Most of the participants left with navigable GPS tracks to use for Saturday’s club pub run!
