Call for Donner Party Mountain Runner Volunteers: we are looking for volunteers for our biggest event of the year, Castle Peak 100k! Race day is Saturday, August 27, 2016. If you have a friend or family member running our race or just want to come out and meet some new friends, please be an invaluable part of helping amazing and UNAFRAID runners reach the finish line!
We have the following positions open for the week before race day, race day and the days after:
Course Marking: we have a few spots still open for course marking the days before race day. Course markers must be familiar with the course and are encouraged to team up with another course marker. Please email our Course Marking Director, Alex Humenetskyj at alexanderhumenetskyj@hotmail.com if you are interested in course marking.
Race Day Parking: Assist runners parking at the start (Prosser OHV) and finish line Cold Stream Road) locations and help getting runners on and off of the shuttle. 2 Positions, these will be early morning shifts.
Finish Line Setup: Two people to finalize the finish line preparations prior to first runner coming in-Mid Afternoon Shift
Finish Line Lounge: the amazing Queen of Finish Line Lounges, Abbey Drake and Canyons RD and world famous (at least in the ultra world) Chef Chaz Sheya are our Finish Line Captains, this will be fun! – Two shifts, 1st Shift is setting up lounge, prepping food and supplying food to race finishers. 2nd Shift is prepping food, supplying food to finishers and breaking down lounge at end of race. The later shift will be a late shift.
Aid Stations: we can still use helpers at individual aid stations. Contact Sean at sflanagan@donnerpartymountainrunners.com
Palisades Safety: Assist runners through the Palisades Section of our course by encouraging and pointing out the best route and fixed ropes. This position is very important after dark. Volunteers will be hiking to their posted spot in the Palisades.
Runner Concierge: Assist race finishers after they cross finish line. Two Shifts, the later one will be late.
Timing: Assist our wonderful timing captain Javier with all aspects of timing which include tracking updates from aid stations, keeping runners family updated on runner status and recording runners finish time.
Finish Line Breakdown: Help breakdown the finish line and finish line lounge the day after our race. Coffee, pastries and camaraderie will be served.
Course cleanup: Run sections of the course and clean up any missed markings and debris. These runs will take place the week after our race.
