A glorious fall day spent building and beautifying a new section of the Royal Gorge Rim Trail on Donner Summit.
JP, Gretchen, Audrey, Mike, Paul, Betsy, Peter, Josh, Jenelle and Rocco, led by Kevin of the Truckee Donner Land Trust, hiked up to a sweet new singletrack section, about 1 mile up from the Ice Lakes Lodge parking area. This section will eventually be a part of the new Royal Gorge Rim Trail.
Our youngest helper, Rocco, in between knee surgeries, charged up the trail carrying two Pulaskis and accepting help from NO ONE. Betsy, our trail stewardess, had organized the work day and despite having a BROKEN WRIST she powered through the work like she was running 95 miles of Pine to Palm on a sprained ankle (that actually happened 3 weeks ago).

After several hours of super fun work on the new trail, we had a nice lunch (those of us that remembered to bring lunch that is), and worked a couple more hours before heading back down (stopping only to pose for pictures). Rocco would only stop working after Betsy assured him that everyone else was stopping, and he wasn’t the first one to quit.

On the way out, JP led us through our new section, admiring the fruits of our labor.
