We all run for different reasons, and for Founding Member Danny Jenkins, one of those reasons is to raise money and awareness for youth and recovery services.
We first met a couple years working together at local races with Big Blue Adventure. We chatted a little about running and he told me about a long run he had done to raise money for a local non-profit and another one that he was working on. Danny struck me as a very humble and gracious person. Until recently though, I did not realize just how dedicated and passionate he is about walking the walk.
He is a recovery & youth fundraiser, community addictions counselor & mentor, published freelance adventure writer, ultra runner and photographer. He doesn’t drink alcohol or do drugs. His existence is minimal, his income low and he loves to fund raise for good causes!
Danny’s goal this year is to raise $5000,00 for Girls on the Run – Sierra through his running of the The Headlands 100 Mile Ultra Marathon on September 14th, 2014. Girls on the Run – Sierras instills self-esteem and values through health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships, and physical training – all of which are accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and the community.
Please consider donating to this worthy cause.
