A solid group of trail runners joined the Donner Party Mountain Runners’ first Family Trail Work Day. Trail Stewardship Director Betsy Nye and her assistant Paul Sweeney led the group of seven adults and four children on the Judah Loop.
The crew performed spring cleaning and maintenance of the trail, which is Cottonwood Restaurant’s adopted trail. Cottonwood supported the efforts with tools and post-work beverages.
“We wanted to include kids to educate them and start with the younger generation,” remarked Nye. “We can help them learn trail skills like not to take the switchback shortcuts and to respect the work that goes into building trails.”
